fees and payments
One number for sellers, one number for buyers, both stated up front. No percentage fees for buyers, no listing fees, no surprises at checkout.
If you are selling
Listing is free. When a piece you are selling as an individual sells, Kaparay takes 10% commission on the item price only: never on postage, never on the buyer protection fee. There is nothing else.
The composer shows you the maths before you publish. For example:
| Your price | £85.00 |
|---|---|
| Kaparay fee (10%) | £8.50 |
| You receive | £76.50 |
At launch you buy your own tracked postage label, and the postage the buyer paid is passed to you in full on top of the figure above. More in the selling guide.
If you sell as a boutique
Boutique vendors trade under a vendor agreement, separate from the 10% above. Your commission rate is confirmed when your boutique is approved, and it is charged the same way: on the item price only, never on postage, never on the buyer protection fee.
Your effective rate, with a worked breakdown, is always shown on your boutique's payouts page. Payouts run through your own Stripe dashboard on the schedule you set.
If you are buying
You pay exactly three things, all shown on the listing page before checkout:
- the item price
- postage, from £3.49 depending on parcel size and the delivery speed you pick
- a flat £1.50 buyer protection fee per order (what it covers, and what it does not, is set out in buyer protection)
There are no buyer-side percentage fees, ever. Nothing appears at checkout that was not already on the listing page.
How payment works
Payments run through Stripe: card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Your money is held securely until delivery is confirmed; Kaparay never holds your funds itself.
Sellers are paid after delivery is confirmed plus a 48-hourwindow for the buyer to flag a problem. If the buyer taps "All good" sooner, the payout releases immediately. Funds then reach your bank within 3 working days (a brand-new seller's first payout can take up to 7 days while Stripe completes its checks).
All amounts are in pounds sterling. UK sellers, UK vendors and UK delivery addresses only at launch.
